Greetings VSB Members:

As President of CUPE Local 15, I wish to thank the bargaining committee for their hard work and dedication to an extremely challenging round of bargaining.

I would also like to thank the members who attended the ratification meetings on January 18th and 19th, which resulted in a 79% acceptance of the CUPE Local 15 Agreement and the Provincial Framework Agreement.

As discussed at the meetings, there are local table monies that the union will be meeting with the employer on to find ways to benefit our members’ work-life balance.

As explained, the provincial government has stipulated that those monies cannot be used for a wage increase or as a signing bonus, so we welcome any suggestions as to how we can make this money available to all members, similar to some of the ideas shared at the meeting.

The next steps will require the BC Public School Employers’ Association to also ratify the agreement, which we hope will take place over the coming weeks.

Following that ratification, the process of preparing your retroactive pay will commence with the employer and a copy of the Memorandum of Agreement will be posted on our CUPE Local 15 website upon its effective date.

Once again, we wish to thank you for your support in helping the committee achieve an agreement that benefits all our members!

In solidarity,

Warren Williams, President
Debbie Mohabir, Secretary-Treasurer and Committee Chair
Chris Brown, Committee Co-Chair
Cynthia Schadt, Chief Shop Steward and Committee Member
Suzette Magri, Committee Member
Vanessa Mani, Committee Member
Rufa Sese, Committee Member
