We are pleased to announce that CUPE Local 15 has agreed to participate in an upcoming research study that will certainly benefit our VSB members. The program “Tracking COVID-19 for Safer Schools” is a study to understand COVID-19 transmission in schools in order to help make schools safer.
The research study is being conducted by UBC, BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, and the COVID-19 Immunity Task Force, along with Drs. Pascal Lavoie, Louise Masse, and David Goldfarb.
Participation in the study is strictly voluntary and will include a good cross section of teaching and non- teaching staff throughout VSB schools. There will also be a second phase of the study which will include students only. The study is being conducted in collaboration with Vancouver Coastal Health.
More detailed information will be forthcoming shortly, but we wanted to advise our members of this very interesting study that we have agreed to participate in and support whole heartedly.
