Greetings Members:

Please see the important message below from CUPE National.

Attention all Pacific Blue Cross Benefits Recipients:

A Special General Meeting of the PBC Health Benefits Society will be held in-person at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023 in the Whistler Auditorium at the offices of Pacific Blue Cross, at 4250 Canada Way, Burnaby, British Columbia. 2023 Special General Meeting | Pacific Blue Cross

Given the lockout forced on CUPE 1816 members by PBC in 2017, Pacific Blue Cross locks out employees (cupe.bc.ca) and the subsequent mobilization of the labour movement to address issues with the previous PBC Board – CUPE is urging all PBC Health Benefits Society members to vote NO on the proposed by-law changes.

The proposed changes will increase term limits and allow some directors of the Board to seek re-election despite having exceeded the term limits permitted under the current by-laws. This change betrays fundamental democratic principles set out in the current by-laws and would prevent needed renewal of the PBC Health Benefits Society Board.

After all the work put in to mobilize the PBC vote, Labour slate sweeps Pacific Blue Cross board elections (cupe.bc.ca) the labour movement cannot return to a time when the PBC Board allows the Employer to lock out workers. That is why your vote is needed. It is our responsibility, as plan members and fellow union members, to make sure respectful employee relations continue to improve at Pacific Blue Cross.

Registration for members attending the Special General Meeting will open at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023, in the foyer of the offices of Pacific Blue Cross, at 4250 Canada Way, Burnaby, British Columbia. Members must bring proof of membership and photo ID to present at the registration desk.

Thank you for your action on this very important matter.
