Greetings VSB Members:
Your VSB/CUPE Local 15 Bargaining Committee wishes to update you on the progress of collective bargaining between the Union and the Vancouver School Board.
As you may already be aware, bargaining has concluded for the Provincial Framework Agreement with a tentative agreement reached last week. A bulletin providing some of the highlights of that agreement has been sent out to members, as well as posted on our CUPE Local 15 website and Facebook page.
Once we have concluded bargaining with the VSB on our local issues, members will be afforded the opportunity to review the details of both tentative agreements at upcoming meetings, which will also provide question and answer opportunities.
Currently, we are making progress at the local table, but as with all collective bargaining, these things can take time, and your bargaining committee appreciates your patience. The committee has signed off several housekeeping issues and are proceeding to address proposals dealing with your working conditions, such as workload, staffing, health & safety and many others. We are pleased to report that the Provincial Framework Agreement does include monies for local bargaining and your committee is working diligently to prioritize the areas where we think these monies benefit you, the members. We will be keeping you posted as things progress, but once again, we ask for your patience as we work towards achieving improved working conditions for you.
In the meantime, if you wish to become a site contact for your work location, please don’t hesitate to provide your personal contact information to a shop steward or reach out to the union office as well.
Once again, thank you for your support!
