Dear Vancouver School Board (VSB) Members:
We are reaching out today with an update on bargaining a new collective agreement.
As you know, K-12 school support locals endorsed a new Provincial Framework Agreement (PFA) earlier this year. The PFA has a four-year term in effect from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2029, and includes a general wage increase of three percent each year.
Other items in the PFA include new funding for labour market adjustments, local table funds, measures to address violence in the workplace, and others.
Local Bargaining is Ongoing
With the PFA endorsed, bargaining at the local level has begun. Your Bargaining Committee is committed to securing the best possible deal for members. We have met with the employer twice in June. Bargaining is progressing and we have been working together productively.
We plan to continue bargaining into the fall, with more bargaining sessions set for September. Under the PFA, our local bargaining must be wrapped up by January 15, 2027.
Once we reach a tentative agreement, Local 15 members will have the opportunity to vote on ratification of the full agreement. It will include the terms of the PFA as an appendix.
Retroactive Payments
The PFA includes retroactive payments for work since July 1, 2025. This includes all active employees and those who have retired since July 1, 2025.
You will receive your retroactive pay after we vote to ratify our new collective agreement.
