As health ministers meet in Vancouver, HEU issued a joint news release below with Sanctuary Health to urge the federal health and immigration ministers to stop the deportation of a local healthcare worker and HEU member.
Claudia Zamorano is a hospital housekeeper. She and her family are still waiting for their permanent residency application (on humanitarian and compassionate grounds) with Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada to be processed. But in the meantime, CBSA has informed them that they will be deported on December 19th (shortly before Christmas).
