Greetings Chartwells Members:
CUPE LOCAL 15 BARGAINING COMMITTEE
The Bargaining Committee met several times over the last six months, reviewing the survey results and continuing our comprehensive analysis of the Collective Agreement. We are now ready to meet with the Employer.
The Committee would like to thank those fellow members for their support during this time – bargaining is a team effort!
COLLECTIVE BARGAINING WORKS
The Chartwells Langara workers gained union certification in 1997. The joint efforts of organized labour and management have since upheld the rights of workers through the process of collective bargaining. Your Bargaining Committee has crafted proposals aimed at strengthening our agreement with respect to the quality of service we provide to our community and working towards a living wage for all workers at Chartwells Langara. Thanks to the continued support of our membership, we are well prepared to go to the table with the Employer and are looking forward to a positive and clear resolution.
CHARTWELLS MOBILIZATION COMMITTEE
CUPE Local 15 held the first engagement event on March 20, 2024 in the Langara Students’ Union (LSU) building. It was a great success! Chartwells members met with the CUPE Local 15 executive, got a t-shirt/button, shared snacks, and signed on to the Living Wage Campaign petition.
Please look out for future events that will be held on the Langara Campus to show the Langara community that you care about the direction your employer is heading.
WE’RE WORTH IT AT THE TABLE
Negotiations will be held with Compass Group/Chartwells Langara on April 23, May 21, May 22, and May 23, 2024.
Our strength as a committee comes directly from the advocacy of our membership. Thank you again for all your help while we lay the groundwork, and for your future support in the work yet to come.
